Always on the look out of stupidly simple, nice to use web apps. Heres one that lets you create (and edit) an avatar for yourself. Not only can you choose from a large range of features to create your avatar, but they make it a piece of piss to use the avatars on third party sites such as this one.
Get your avatar here: www.doppelme.com
Heres mine:
1) Connect a cable
2) Applications -> Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile network sharing
3) ifconfig -a and you will see the phone appear as a network connection with
4) sudo ifcofng usb0 up
5) sudo dhclient usb0
6) Surf away!
Ive seen idiots faffing around with openVPN rooting their phones and arsing about with the android sdk to do something that works out of the box. -.-’
It’ll work on most distros it depends only on the rndis_host and the rndis_wlan modules.
And yes this post was made through my eeepc tethered to my mobile.
Enjoy!
Played about with this ages ago, thought it was worthy of a post. Basically its a technique where you take a normal photo and mess about with it to make it look like a painted scale model. Take a look at the photos, you’ll get the idea.
This is a post-shoot technique using the Lens Blur filter in photoshop. Theres plenty of tutorials on the net, just use your friendly search engine to look for “Tilt and Shift”. You can also do this with a special lens. But thats for die hards.
Try it yourself with an online tool: Tilt Shift Maker or Another Tilt Generator
This can also be done in video, which is kinda cool: Tilt and Shift – Bathtub Video
BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO VIEW THEM FULL SIZE – IT DOESNT WORK OTHERWISE
Vatican
This first image was my first test. Apparently a high up vantage point is good, so what better than from the top of the Vatican? It doesnt actually work so well – not enough detail in the scene.

Blackpool
This was taken at a Blackpool Dance festival. My wifes brother is toward the back of the shot, sadly not the one in focus. He did win though!

Pleasure Beach
This is a photo from atop the Pepsi Max  at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The coloring really looks like enamel paint here, I like it.

Tofino Harbour
Tofino on Victoria Island in Canada. Here we simply have boats in the ater, they really look like models.

Twenty20 Cup Finals
Importantly Kent one the finals. But this photo from the late evening really works for me. I love the sun – and the shadows.

The Forum
This is I think my favourite. I love the way the huge boulder looks like a lump of polystyrene.

The old ones are the best. Ive seen this cartoon many times over the years. Its so true. Anyone know who did the original?
